Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Stovetop oatmeal with caramelized apple and warm spices. Better than any packet oatmeal.

Ingredients
Apple 1 large
Brown Sugar 1 tbsp
Butter 1 tbsp
Honey 1 tbsp
Maple Syrup drizzle
Milk 2 cups
Oats 1 cup, rolled
Salt 1 pinch
Instructions
  1. Dice apple into small cubes — no need to peel.
  2. Heat a small amount of butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add apple, a pinch of brown sugar, and a pinch of cinnamon. Cook 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and caramelized. Set aside.
  3. In the same pan, bring milk and a pinch of salt to a gentle simmer. Using milk instead of water makes much creamier oatmeal.
  4. Add oats and stir. Cook 4–5 minutes on medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until thick and creamy.
  5. Stir in honey and taste for sweetness.
  6. Spoon into bowls and top generously with the caramelized apples.
  7. Drizzle with maple syrup or a little extra honey to finish.
