Bean and Rice Bowl

A filling black bean and rice bowl seasoned with garlic. A complete, protein-rich meal from ingredients you probably always have.

Ingredients
Black Beans 1 can (15 oz)
Garlic 2 cloves, minced
Rice 1 cup, dry
Salt ½ tsp
Instructions
  1. Cook rice according to package directions. For best results, rinse the rice first and use a 1:2 ratio of rice to water.
  2. While rice cooks, drain and rinse the black beans.
  3. Heat a small saucepan over medium heat. Add beans with minced garlic, salt, and a splash of water.
  4. Cook 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beans are heated through and the garlic is fragrant. Lightly mash a few beans against the side of the pot — this thickens the mixture.
  5. Taste and adjust salt.
  6. Serve beans over rice. Top with a drizzle of soy sauce if desired.
  7. Optional toppings: sliced avocado, hot sauce, lime juice, or shredded cheese.
