Simple Salad

A crisp, refreshing green salad with bell pepper and olive oil. The foundation every cook should have in their back pocket.

Ingredients
Bell Pepper 1 large
Lettuce 1 head, chopped
Olive Oil 2 tbsp
Salt ½ tsp
Instructions
  1. Wash the lettuce thoroughly under cold water. Shake off excess water or spin dry — wet lettuce dilutes the dressing.
  2. Tear or chop into bite-sized pieces and place in a large bowl.
  3. Slice bell pepper into thin strips or dice into chunks, removing seeds and white pith.
  4. Add bell pepper to the lettuce and toss to combine.
  5. Drizzle olive oil over the salad. Season generously with salt and a crack of black pepper.
  6. Toss well and serve immediately — dressed salad wilts quickly.
  7. Optional: add a squeeze of lemon juice for brightness.
