Baked Ziti

Bubbling, cheesy baked ziti with layers of tomato sauce, pasta, and melted mozzarella. The ultimate crowd-pleasing comfort food.

Ingredients
Cheese 2 cups, shredded
Pasta 12 oz (340g)
Salt 1 tsp
Tomato Sauce 2 cups (1 jar)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook ziti in heavily salted water until 2 minutes shy of al dente — it will finish cooking in the oven.
  3. Drain pasta and return to the pot.
  4. Add tomato sauce and stir to combine. Taste and season with salt.
  5. Spread half the pasta mixture into the baking dish.
  6. Dot the surface with spoonfuls of ricotta (or use extra cheese).
  7. Top with remaining pasta mixture.
  8. Cover the entire surface with shredded mozzarella — no gaps.
  9. Bake uncovered 25 minutes until the cheese is melted, golden brown in spots, and the edges are bubbling.
  10. Let rest 5 minutes before serving — it will hold together better when sliced.
